The Challenge
Causeway Geotech need to digitise a process centred around paper logs. Given the environment, paper logs proved unreliable and lent themselves to errors and information delays.
Solution
Following a comprehensive assessment of Causeway Geotech ’s needs, Conker proposed the SX82 rugged 8-inch Android tablet. The device features an 8-inch screen making it easy for their team to view and use without being to heavy or cumbersome. It also has a robust 9,800mAh battery that can more than last on long days out in the field at remote locations which was a crucial requirement for the customer.
“We use the devices to capture borehole data in the field where previously we would have used paper logs. Capturing the information on site in a digital format reduces errors and eliminates the need for data entry in the office. There have been significant improvements in the accuracy and quality of the information coming from site. It is often a rough and dirty environment and the tablets have withstood everything our staff and the weather has thrown at them. So far we’ve only managed to crack one screen and it was rapidly repaired under warranty.”
